steps to make honey sesame seed candy
The full recipe is in the recipe card below, but here’s an overview of the step by step instructions!
- Prepare the Baking Sheet: Line a baking sheet or a square pan with parchment paper. Lightly grease the parchment paper with a small amount of oil to prevent sticking.
- Toast the Sesame Seeds: Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add the sesame seeds and toast them for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently, until golden and aromatic. Be careful not to burn them.
- Add the honey: Add the honey or maple syrup into the pan with the seeds. Let it bubble gently for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Next you will turn the heat to low and continue stirring frequently for another 1-3 minutes until it becomes a thick, sticky mixture.
- Let cool: Remove the pan from the heat and pour the mixture onto the pan, spreading it out evenly. I like to spread mine out pretty thin, about 1″ thick. At this point the sesame candy can cool at room temperature for a few hours, allowing it to firm up. You can also pop it in the fridge for an hour or so.

Storing honey sesame seed candy
Keep in an airtight container on your counter or pantry for up to 1 month, in the refrigerator for up to 3 months, and freezer for up to 1 year.
Tips for Perfect Honey Sesame Candy
- Don’t Overheat the Honey: Overcooking can cause the honey to burn or make the candy too hard.
- Add a Twist: Mix in a small handful of crushed nuts – peanuts are great!- or a sprinkle of chia seeds for added texture and nutrition!

You don’t have sesame seeds in the ingredient list!
Hi Mickey! Sorry, there happened to be an auto-correct typo and it for some reason said sunflower seeds! It’s still the same measurements and I just fixed it to say sesame! (: Thanks for catching that!
