These mini, individual apple crisps are the perfect single-serve dessert to add to your fall baking list or holiday dessert table! Chopped apples are layered with a coconut sugar-sweetened caramel sauce and oatmeal pecan crumble to create the most delicious, healthier treat! (vegan & gluten-free).
There are three components to this healthy dessert, but don’t be turned off by that – they couldn’t be easier and it’s totally worth it! The first component is a quick crumble made from wholesome ingredients like oats, pecans, cinnamon, and coconut oil or ghee, then there’s a coconut sugar-sweetened caramel sauce that comes together in about 5 minutes, and then just diced apples!
Desserts are always so much cuter when they are mini! These mini apple crisps are one of my favorite desserts to make each fall, especially as a healthier Thanksgiving dessert, and so fun to serve at dinner parties! I think everyone loves a cute single-serve dessert to enjoy! They are sure to satisfy apple pie cravings, too!

equipment
- Food processor
- Saucepan
- Spatula
- Jars: I like to use these 4oz mason jars! I recommend using wide mouth jars so spoons can easily reach inside!
ingredients
This recipe is naturally vegan and gluten-free (if using certified gluten-free oats)! It’s also refined sugar-free and sweetened with coconut sugar. If you want a lower sugar option, opt for brown sugar/golden monk fruit!
Crisp
- Old fashioned rolled oats
- Pecans
- Cinnamon
- Coconut sugar
- Coconut oil: Ghee, vegan butter, or grass-fed butter also work!
- Apples: Use your favorite variety!
Caramel
- Canned coconut milk
- Coconut sugar
- Vanilla & sea salt
If you have coconut allergies and cannot make the coconut milk caramel sauce, feel free to use a different caramel sauce recipe or a store-bought option!
steps to make individual apple crisps
- Make the crisp layer: Combine all of the ingredients besides the oil or butter in a food processor. Process for 30 seconds or so, until it creates a crumb-like texture. Then add in the oil or butter and pulse until it’s mixed in.
- Make the caramel sauce: In a small saucepan, combine all of the caramel ingredients, mixing well. Place the pan over medium heat and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, letting it simmer for 5 minutes or so to thicken up just a bit. Then remove from heat and set aside.
- Assemble the jars: Spray the jars with spray oil. Then layer as followed:-crumble-apples-caramel-crumble-apples-crumble-caramel
- Bake: Place the jars on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes or until the tops are golden and bubbly. Remove from the oven. Let cool for a bit before topping with whipped cream. Enjoy!
expert tips
- Apple crisp jars are best served the same day, however you can store them in the fridge and reheat in the microwave for 45 seconds prior to eating.
- Top with a dollop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or coconut yogurt/greek yogurt!
- Reserve a small amount of pecans to chop up and sprinkle over top!
- If you make these ahead of time, the middles might sink a bit – that’s okay! Just reheat them prior to serving, then top with whipped cream!
