Viral banana milk latte

Banana coffee

I first experienced banana coffee while on a trip in Costa Rica. They had it at every cafe we’d go to and we never left without one! Typically, they’d do theirs blended so it was more of a milkshake or frappuccino consistency. However, there’s been this banana milk latte that’s been going viral and I had to give it a go! It’s quick, delicious, and a fun way to make coffee at home a bit more exciting!

I added a dose of collagen, because it makes it a bit frothier and who doesn’t love getting in some extra skin/hair benefits, but this is totally optional! This banana latte is a bit creamier than a typical latte, thanks to the real banana and is such a treat! Want to try it blended!? Try my blended banana coffee.

Ingredients you’ll need

The full recipe is in the recipe card at the bottom of the post! You only need a few simple ingredients:

  • Super ripe banana: Be sure your banana is super spotty – if it’s not ripe enough, it will not be good!
  • Milk of choice (dairy or non-dairy): the creamier, the better!
  • Espresso shots: You can use fresh or buy cans of espresso at most grocery stores!
  • Cinnamon: You can add as little/as much as you’d like. I start with less and will add more after tasting if desired.
  • Collagen: This is optional, but I love adding collagen to my coffees (and it makes them frothy!). I love this brand!
  • Vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste
  • Sea Salt: to enhance sweetness

What Does a Banana milk Latte Taste Like?

Imagine a super cream latte with the mild sweetness and flavor of fresh banana. It’s like drinking banana bread in a cup; warm, creamy, and comforting without being overly sweet or having an overpowering banana flavor. The cinnamon, salt, and vanilla make it taste like a fancy coffee shop experience!

Tips for the Best latte’s at home

  • Use a super ripe banana for maximum natural sweetness/flavor
  • Don’t overheat the banana milk (keeps flavor fresh and creamy)
  • Add a spoonful of collagen or protein powder for extra nutrition
  • If you want it sweeter, add a touch of maple syrup or honey
  • Use frozen banana for an ultra-creamy iced version
  • Banana milk would even be delicious as a base with my Whipped honey coffee!
