It can be hard to find a good low sugar coffee option. This version is made with homemade chocolate cashew milk that even sneaks in some protein! It comes together in under 5 minutes with simple, wholesome ingredients and really makes a delicious alternative to sugar-laden mocha’s!

How to make a Mocha Dalgona Coffee

Tools needed
- Hand mixer or stand mixer – I use my stand mixer as it makes the whole coffee whipping process INCREDIBLY quick & easy, but a hand mixer works just as great!
Ingredients You’ll Need
For the dalgona whipped coffee:
- Instant coffee (yes, instant is key for the foam!) this won’t work with regular ground coffee.
- Granulated sugar – you can use coconut sugar, monk fruit sweetener, or regular sugar. I used powdered monk fruit sweetener & it’s delicious!
- Hot water
For the chocolate cashew milk:
- Cacao powder
- Raw cashews
- Sweetener, of choice – this is optional! I do a few monk fruit drops. If adding protein powder, you may not need to add any additional sweetener!
- Chocolate protein powder (totally optional, but I love the flavor and creaminess it adds!) I used Macro Mike Smoothe Pea protein in rich Chocolate. You can use my code “amb-dani” for a discount!
- Vanilla extract & sea salt
How to Make a Mocha dalgona coffee
- Whip it up: In a mixing bowl, add instant coffee, sugar, hot water, and cocoa powder. Using a hand mixer (or a whisk if you’re ready for an arm workout), whip until it’s thick, fluffy, and forms soft peaks. I personally prefer to use a stand mixer as it speeds up the process, tons!
- Make the milk: Add all ingredients to a blender & blend until completely smooth. Taste & adjust as you’d like. Store in a container in the fridge until ready to use!
- Prep your glass: Fill a glass with ice and pour in your milk of choice.
- Top it off: Spoon the whipped coffee mixture on top of the milk.
- Optional garnish: Swirl with whipped cream, sprinkle with cocoa, or drizzle with chocolate sauce for that coffeehouse vibe!

Dalgona Coffee
- 2 tbsp instant coffee
- 2 tbsp powdered or granulated sweetener *see notes for reccomendations!
- 2 tbsp hot water
Chocolate cashew milk
- 2 cups water
- 1/2 cup raw cashews
- 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder *optional but rich & yummy!
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch sea salt

- Whip it up: In a mixing bowl, add instant coffee, sugar, & hot water. Using a hand mixer (or a whisk if you’re ready for an arm workout), whip until it’s thick, fluffy, and forms soft peaks. I personally prefer to use a stand mixer as it speeds up the process, tons!
