Ingredients you’ll need
Be sure to scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the post for the full measurements! Unlike many coffee shop refreshers that rely heavily on fruit juice and added sugar, this homemade version focuses on ingredients that actually help support hydration:
- Brewed hibiscus tea: Hibiscus tea has a naturally tart, cranberry-like flavor that’s incredibly refreshing. It’s naturally caffeine-free and rich in plant compounds that give it its beautiful ruby-red color. This is my favorite tea to buy in bulk (I make these a lot lol). But this brand is also great!
- Coconut water: Coconut water naturally contains electrolytes like potassium, making it a great base for a refreshing drink—especially after exercise or time in the sun.
- Electrolyte packet of choice: Adding your favorite electrolyte mix helps replenish important minerals like sodium, magnesium, and potassium while adding extra flavor. Choose one with minimal added sugar for the healthiest option.
- Lime slices for garnish: Fresh lime brightens everything up with a burst of citrus while adding vitamin C and balancing the sweetness perfectly.
How to Make a hydrating Hibiscus Refresher
- Brew your hibiscus tea and let it cool completely.
- Fill a glass with ice.
- Pour in the chilled hibiscus tea.
- Add the coconut water.
- Stir in your electrolyte packet until dissolved.
- Squeeze in fresh lime juice.
- Stir and enjoy immediately.
helpful tips
- Brew the hibiscus tea a little stronger for more flavor after adding ice.
- Chill the tea beforehand so your drink stays cold without becoming watered down.
- Add sparkling water if you want a bubbly refresher.
- Freeze leftover hibiscus tea into ice cubes so your drink never gets diluted.
- Use an electric frother to blend everything together.
refresher flavor Variations
- Very berry refresher (starbucks copycat): Add in frozen or fresh berries.
- Mango Hibiscus Refresher: Add a splash of mango puree for tropical flavor.
- Pineapple Hibiscus Refresher: Mix in a little pineapple juice for vacation vibes.
- Sparkling Hibiscus Refresher: Top with sparkling water for a fizzy version.
- Strawberry refresher: Stir in fresh or freeze dried strawberries.

Hydrating Hibiscus Refresher
Ingredients
- 1 cup brewed hibiscus tea *preferably chilled!
- 1/2 cup coconut water
- 1/2 – 1 electrolyte packet of choice (I like strawberry, raspberry, or lemon!) *see notes for my fave brand!
- fresh lime wedges *you could also add frozen berries
- Ice
Instructions
- Brew a hibiscus tea bag in a cup of water for 5-10 minutes (depending on how strong you want it). I like to let mine chill in the freezer for a bit so it doesn't water down my ice.
- When ready to enjoy, pour the tea into a glass. Add the coconut water and electrolyte pack. Use a whisk or electric frother to whisk it all up until there's no clumps. Taste & adjust as you'd like (more of the electrolyte packet, more coconut water, etc.).
- Add ice and fresh lime wedges. Enjoy!
