How to Make one pot Yellow Rice
Toast the Rice:
This is where the magic starts! Melt a little olive oil or butter in your saucepan and add the diced red onion and rice. Toast the rice until it’s just turning golden and smells deliciously nutty. It adds so much flavor — you definitely don’t want to skip this step!
Season It Up:
Sprinkle in the minced garlic, turmeric, salt, and pepper. Give it a good stir so every grain gets a little love (and that beautiful golden color!).
Add the Broth:
Pour in your bone broth or veggie broth and bring it to a boil. Once it’s bubbling, reduce to low and pop on the lid. Let it simmer away for about 20–25 minutes while your kitchen fills with the best cozy aroma.
Fluff & Finish:
When the rice is tender and fluffy, grab a fork and give it a little fluff. Stir in some fresh chopped cilantro for a bright, herby finish — and sprinkle a bit more on top to make it pretty.
Tips for Perfect One Pot Golden Rice
- Rinse the rice thoroughly to remove excess starch for fluffier texture.
- Use high-quality bone broth for deeper flavor and better nutrition.
- For a vegetarian version, substitute bone broth with vegetable broth and add chickpeas or tofu for protein.

Serving Ideas
This golden rice pairs beautifully with:
- Grilled chicken, salmon, meatballs, etc.
- Sautéed greens or roasted vegetables
- A dollop of yogurt or tzatziki on top
- As a base for any grain bowl.
