protein puppy chow/Muddy Buddies

Protein puppy chow/Muddy Buddies is a healthier take on the nostalgic snack we all know and love. Instead of coating cereal (or popcorn!) in a thick layer of powdered sugar, this version uses a blend of protein powder and powdered monk fruit sweetener for that signature sweet coating. You still get all the crunchy, chocolatey goodness of classic puppy chow, but with a little extra protein and less sugar in every bite.

Ingredients you’ll need

  • Freeze dried strawberries: This is how we get all of that delicious strawberry flavor without the need to use artificial flavors or extracts!
  • Popcorn: freshly popped or bagged both work! I usually just use LesserEvil.
  • White chocolate chips: this is what helps give that muddy buddies (puppy chow) feel! It’s delicious. Use whatever fits your dietary needs. For a refined sugar-free option, I love Lily’s or ChocZero.
  • Protein Powder: Vanilla works best! My favorite is Macro Mike Vanilla Buttercream (use code “amb-dani” or Vanilla Wellious.
  • Monk fruit powdered sugar: you can also use regular powdered sugar (i’m just trying to keep this lower sugar/refined sugar-free!). This is my favorite powdered sugar substitute!
