When you can’t decide between chia pudding or a smoothie for breakfast, this layered dragonfruit chia smoothie is the best of both worlds! It is full of healthy fats, fiber, and protein, all of my breakfast non-negotiable! Making sure to include these at every meal, will ensure you stay satiated until your next meal!

Not a chia fan?

I love the benefits of chia seeds but I can see how ciai pudding can be an acquired taste. I highly recommend trying to blend it before adding it to your jar, it really smooths out the texture! They are great for digestion and gut health and keeping you satiated. However, if you really don’t want to use chia seeds, opt for more ground flax seed or even swap in some hemp hearts!

The Blender I LOVE and recommend!

You guys, this is not sponsored, I am just fully obsessed. After having a Ninja blender for years (I still love them!), but I finally took the plunge and purchased a Vitamix. And let me tell you.. it’s worth the hype. I couldn’t recommend it more! For savory things, smoothies, desserts, whatever you blend – it’s incredible and has made the world of difference. Linked the one I have here!

What you’ll need to make a layered dragonfruit chia smoothie:

chia seeds: One of the stars of the show! Full of healthy fats and fiber, they’re great for digestion!

Ground flax seed: Same as chia seeds, flax are a great source of healthy fats and fiber.

Frozen Dragonfruit: You can always swap out another fruit of your choice! I like to buy mine in the bagged frozen fruit section at my local grocery store!

Banana: Frozen banana adds sweetness/creaminess to the recipe!

Protein Powder: Use your favorite flavor as this adds sweetness and flavor to the recipe! I always recommend Macro mike! You can use the code “amb-dani” for a discount!

How to make a layered dragonfruit chia smoothie:

All you do is mix together the chia pudding ingredients and add it to the bottom of your jar. Let it sit in the fridge for 10-15 minutes to thicken up.

You can add a layer of granola or chopped nuts and seeds over top of the chia pudding for some crunch.

Once ready to eat, add the smoothie ingredients to a blender and blend until thick and smooth. Pour over the chia pudding and enjoy!

  1. Thanks for the tip about blending the chia first, that’s clever. I’m not a huge fan of the texture of chia pudding, it’s just sort of weird. I need to try that!
