Smoothie with turmeric powder

Fresh turmeric is incredibly beneficial, however it can be a bit time consuming to have to peel it, etc. This smoothie is made with turmeric powder, so no need to have to peel or deal with fresh turmeric while getting in all the same benefits!

Inspired by one of my favorite warm beverages, golden milk, it’s packed with antioxidants, a great way to support your immune system and reduce inflammation naturally! Whether you’re starting your day, recharging post-workout, or just craving something refreshing and healthy, this golden milk smoothie will have you glowing from the inside out

What is golden milk?

Originated in India, haldi doodh is milk infused with turmeric and spices and has been used to aid many ailments, including colds, inflammation, aches, and pains. This results in a milk that is golden yellow and super vibrant! It’s bright, fresh, cozy, and comforting!

Anti-Inflammatory Ingredients & their benefits

  • Turmeric: the star of this smoothie. It contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound known to support joint health, boost immunity, and protect against oxidative stress.
  • Ginger: Fresh ginger might sound intimidating but it creates the most DELICIOUS flavor. It’s bright and fresh, while offering endless benefits. It’s incredible for digestion and gut health while also offering anti-inflammatory benefits.
  • Carrot: packed with beta-carotene, carrots are full of antioxidants! They also lend a deeper color to this smoothie while not affecting the flavor!
  • Fiber: chia seeds, flax seeds, or pysllium husk are all great options!
  • Banana: Adds natural sweetness and potassium for muscle support.
  • Ginger: A warming spice that soothes the gut and combats inflammation.
  • Coconut water or almond milk: Hydrating and full of electrolytes.
  • Spices: Cinnamon, cardamom (optional!)
  • Almond butter or cashew butter: This adds healthy, satiating fats to the smoothie to keep you feeling fuller for longer. You can use granola butter or sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option!
  • Protein powder: protein is essential for every cell and mechanism in our body. It’s also imperative for muscle growth and feeling satiated and satisfied.
  • Black pepper: Enhances curcumin absorption by up to 2000%.

Steps to make a turmeric & ginger smoothie

  • Add all ingredients to a high-speed blender.
  • Blend until smooth and creamy. Add more liquid as needed for desired consistency.
  • Pour into a glass, sprinkle granola or whatever you’d like and enjoy!

What protein powder works best?

I love a plant-based protein for the creamiest texture! However, collagen/bone broth-based proteins are incredible as well. I’ll usually add a scoop of that on top of my plant-based powder. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Macro Mike Vanilla Buttercream – so delicious and creamy! Works as a lovely vanilla base to this smoothie! You can use my code “amb-dani” for a discount!
  • Ka’Chava Chai – this powder is packed with extra nutrients and I love the flavor!
  • Paleo Valley Bone Broth Protein – rich in amino acids and collagen, I love adding a scoop of this to the smoothie along with one of the base proteins! The vanilla and salted caramel both work great here! My link will get you 15% off any order! (:

Turmeric fruit smoothie Recipe Variations

  • Add a spoonful of greek yogurt or coconut yogurt to make it extra creamy and add extra protein. This will also add some beneficial probiotics!
  • Use full-fat canned coconut milk to create that true golden milk flavor while also adding some extra healthy, brain-boosting and hormone-supporting fats!
  • Add a little frozen pineapple to thicken the smoothie up while also adding digestive health-supporting bromelain!
  • Add frozen cauliflower rice to add extra veggies, nutrients, and to thicken the smoothie up! You don’t taste it!

Tips for making the best smoothies

  • Use frozen fruit for a thick and creamy texture.
  • Add protein: Add an extra scoop of collagen or bone broth protein for an amino-rich, collagen boosting smoothie!
  • Want extra fiber? Throw in a tablespoon of extra chia seeds or flaxseeds or even psyllium husk powder!
  • Not into bananas? Try avocado or more mango for a creamy texture! You can also add a dash of honey if you’d like it to be a little sweeter.
