This TikTok viral egg breakfast sandwich hack will completely change your life. Sounds dramatic, but they’re seriously so quick, easy, and DELICIOUS. It is made in one pan, can be made on any bread to meet any dietary need, and the filling options are endless. This is the tastiest, easiest, healthy-ish breakfast!
I am a big breakfast girl – I could probably eat “breakfast food” every meal. I remember growing up, getting extra excited when we’d have breakfast for dinner. This breakfast sandwich hack went viral across Instagram and TikTok awhile back and I just now got around to trying it.
It is so worth the hype. I put my own spin on it with some delicious fillings and adding pesto to the outside of the bread. Pesto and eggs are a dream combination (try it!). This sandwich never gets boring, as there are so many variations. Leave me a comment below with whatever you try/add!

How to make the TikTok egg breakfast sandwich

Ingredients
- Bread: You can use whatever bread fits your dietary needs. It’ll work on sourdough (gluten-free sourdough is my favorite!), Keto bread, paleo bread, etc. It’s just important to use a sturdy bread!
- Eggs: I like to use at least 3 eggs to ensure the bread is completely covered (and for protein!). I haven’t tested it, but i’m sure Just Egg will work as a vegan option!
- Seasonings: Season your eggs with whatever you like. I do salt, pepper, red pepper, & garlic powder. Sometimes i’ll add a sprinkle of nutritional yeast for a cheesy flavor and extra B12 vitamins.
- Sandwich fix-in’s/fillings: I like to do dark leafy greens like arugula & freshly sliced tomato.
- Cheese: This is optional. Diary cheese or dairy-free/vegan cheese will both work!
- Pesto: This is how I like to make it, but you can skip this. Although it adds tons of flavor to the recipe.
Steps to make the tikTok breakfast sandwich
- Start by preparing your eggs. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs until super smooth. Add seasonings of choice, then whisk again.
- If using pesto, spread a layer of it over two slices of bread.
- Add a little butter, ghee, or oil to a pan over medium heat. Once heated, add the eggs. Quickly place each piece of bread into the eggs (see video above!).
- If you’re not using pesto, you’ll want to flip each slice of bread to the other side, to ensure both sides are coated in the wet egg mixture before it cooks (much like fresh toast). This is to ensure the other side of the bread will get crisp on the pan.
- Once the eggs are cooked through, carefully flip the entire thing over.
- Fold the edges of the eggs in. Place a slice of cheese over one of the slices of bread. Then the fillings (arugula, tomato, etc).
- Flip the other slice of bread onto it, to form the sandwich. Enjoy!

- Add bacon (or turkey bacon), tomato, and romaine for a BLT breakfast sandwich.
- Add sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, and feta.
- Make it Caprese style! Add mozzarella, tomato, & spinach.
- Add avocado to any sandwich to make it 10x better (in my opinion!)
- Add pickled onions.
- Fill your sandwich with smoked salmon, capers, & pickled onion for a lox bagel feel!
Expert tips
- Your pan matters!! Be sure to use a good non-stick pan. Most non-stick pans are toxic, so I highly recommend Caraway pans. They are truly the only non-toxic, non-stick pans that actually don’t stick!
- Don’t be shy with butter/oil when greasing your pan! This is imperative for getting the perfect cook and flip.
- Enjoy this sandwich straight away! It’s best warm and crispy straight off the pan! However, you can make these ahead of time and reheat in the air fryer prior to eating to crisp it up!
