Why you’ll love this recipe

  • This is the perfect spring/summer drink for when nice weather hits!
  • It’s made with only a few ingredients.
  • Super refreshing!
  • Comes together in just a few minutes.
  • This milk tea is made dairy free (vegan) & refined sugar free.
  • Naturally sweetened, with less than a quarter of the sugar in other milk teas/pink drinks!

What is milk tea?

Depending on where you are in the world, milk tea will be made differently/have different meanings. Milk tea essentially is just that – a beverage that contains milk and tea. This can be something as simple as a hot tea with a splash of milk, a milky bubble tea from Taiwan, or an iced Thai milk tea that is made with condensed milk.

For this recipe, we are sort of combining milk tea with the popular Starbucks Pink Drink/tea refresher to create a fun version of our own! I wanted this drink to be lighter and fresh rather than thick and heavier. I really feel like this is the perfect marriage of ingredients!

How to make strawberry mango milk tea

Full recipe & measurements will be in the recipe card below but here’s an overview:

Ingredients

  • Tea: You can brew your own tea or use a prepared tea, like I did, to make this even easier! I used the mango tea by Saint James to add mango flavor to the recipe. If you’re using a regular green or black tea, you can just blend in some fresh/frozen mango later on!
  • Milk of choice: There are a few options here. I like to use NutPods creamer as it adds the perfect creaminess without separating after blending. When I tried to use canned coconut milk/cream, it would tend to separate after blending and leaving chunks.
  • Sweetener: You can use honey, maple syrup, or even monk fruit.
  • Fresh/frozen strawberries & Mango: Either will work here! I like to have some fresh strawberries on hand to dice up and add to the drink to make it even prettier!

Steps to make milk tea

  • Blend: Simply add all of the ingredients to a blender and blend for a minute or two until completely smooth. You can taste the tea & adjust as you’d like (more sweetener, fruit, etc).
  • Pour over ice: Pour the tea over ice, add in some diced fresh strawberries if you’d like, and enjoy! I love serving mine in a pretty glass! These bubble glasses are so fun!

FAQ’s, Tips, Tricks

  • Add vanilla protein powder to the drink to add protein to your day and give it more of a cream-vibe! I’d add 2 tbsp!
  • What kind of tea works best? You can use whatever you like! I know some people only like certain flavors/types of teas. I used prepared tea to make it even easier on myself, however you can brew your own tea!
  • Let your tea cool! If you are brewing your own tea, be sure to place it in the fridge and let it cool prior to blending in the blender with the remaining ingredients!
  • Can I use sweetened condensed milk? Most milk teas (or thai teas) are sweetened with sweetened condensed milk to add extra sweetness and creaminess. You can use 2 tbsp, however it’ll add a bit more sugar to the recipe.
