Viral frozen yogurt bark has been all the rage lately, but these easy frozen yogurt bites may take the cake for me! These yogurt bites are topped with chocolate, ultra creamy, and easy to make. They’re lower in sugar and make the perfect healthy snack or treat that are also kid and toddler friendly! You can use greek yogurt or coconut yogurt for a vegan, dairy-free option! (Naturally gluten & refined sugar free).

Videos of the viral frozen yogurt bark have been taking the internet by storm – and for good reason. It’s easy, quick, and makes a nutritious treat. However, i’ve been making these little bites for months now and can’t get over them! They feel like you’re eating DIBS ice cream bites if you close your eyes a little hard (lol).

I don’t know if you’re an anomaly, but I THINK most of us can get down with a lunch-dessert. You know, a little sweet treat after every meal. These are perfect for that. Frozen yogurt bites are low maintenance to make and pleasing to the eyes! Not to mention they’re super fun, being so poppable and bite-size! If you’re feeling fruity, try my strawberry frozen yogurt bites covered in white chocolate!

The best part about these little cuties is how versatile they are! You can make frozen yogurt bites with berries and chocolate, add in goji berries or chopped dates, or top with fruit and yogurt for a breakfast-appropriate version. If you decide to use greek yogurt, these frozen yogurt bites will naturally be higher in protein. If you want to make them higher protein while using coconut yogurt, you can stir in a little protein powder to your yogurt mixture!

These make the perfect refreshing spring or summer treat on a hot day, however we enjoy these all year round!

How to make frozen yogurt bites

Equipment

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Mold: This is the mold I use! This mold is great because you can make more in one pan. You can also use a mini cupcake tin to make larger bites!

Ingredients

  • Yogurt: It’s important to use a thick yogurt, to ensure the bites come out thick and creamy. Using a thick yogurt will ensure these set up nicely as well. Thick greek yogurt or coconut yogurt both worth! CocoJune and Culina are two coconut yogurt brands that taste amazing and work great!
  • Almond butter or cashew butter: Adding the nut butter helps prevent the yogurt bites from becoming that weird “icy” texture. It creates an even thicker, creamier bite. You can also use peanut butter but keep in mind this will change the flavor of the bites to taste like peanut butter (which is great, too!). Sunflower butter makes a great nut-free option.
  • Maple syrup or honey: We use just a touch to sweeten the bites slightly!
  • Protein powder: Protein powder is totally optional! I would omit it if using greek yogurt, as it’s already high in protein, but if you want to add some extra protein to a dairy-free coconut yogurt version, stirring in a scoop gets the job done! I love Macro Mike salted caramel protein in these, it tastes like dessert! You can use my code “amb-dani” for a discount!
  • Sea salt & vanilla extract

Steps to make frozen yogurt bites

  • Mix together the frozen yogurt mixture: Combine the yogurt, nut butter, sweetener, optional protein, sea salt, and vanilla in a large bowl. Whisk together until smooth, thick, and creamy.
  • Divide it amongst your mold: Divide the yogurt mixture amongst your mold, filling each crevice about 2/3 way full.
  • Melt the chocolate: In a small bowl, add the coconut oil and chocolate. You can melt the chocolate using the double-boiler method or in the microwave. Microwave in 30 second increments, stirring well between each, until completely smooth.
  • Add a little chocolate to the top of each bite, filling that last 1/3 of each crevice.
  • Freeze! You’ll want to freeze the bites for 3-4 hours before removing them from the molds. Store in an air-tight container in the freezer.

FAQ’S, tips, & tricks

  • Do you have to add coconut oil to the chocolate? This helps thin the chocolate out to make topping the bites seamless and less-messy.
  • What yogurt makes the creamiest frozen yogurt? You’ll want to use a thick yogurt. Yogurt options with higher-fat content will create the best textured, creamiest bites. I like to use Coconut yogurt, but thick greek yogurt works great as well!
  • How long do frozen yogurt bites last? These bites will last in the freezer for a month or two! I like to leave mine out a few minutes before enjoying, as they get creamier!
  • Be patient! Make sure you leave the bites in the freezer long enough before trying to remove them from your mold. Trying to remove them before they are set will create a mess and ruin them.

Different frozen yogurt flavors and variations

  • Add sprinkles!
  • Stir in fresh berries and a sprinkle of granola for a breakfast vibe!
  • Stir in chocolate chips, dried berries, raisins, or goji berries, and some nuts for a trail-mix feel!

I like CocoJune or Culina for coconut yogurt!
**You can use sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option. You can also use peanut butter but keep in mind they’ll taste like peanut butter as it’s not as neutral as the other butters – still delicious though!
