Sugar-Free Salted Caramel Sauce
This Sugar-Free Salted Caramel Sauce is rich, buttery, silky smooth, and perfectly sweet without refined sugar or artificial preservatives or flavors. Made with just 4 simple ingredients, it's an easy homemade caramel sauce that's ready in under 15 minutes!
- 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp Golden Monk Fruit sweetener *or coconut sugar
- 1/2 cup full-fat canned coconut milk
- 2 tbsp grass-fed butter, vegan butter, or coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- good pinch of sea salt
Combine the golden monk fruit, coconut milk, and butter/coconut oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Whisk continuously as the mixture comes to a gentle boil.
Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 8 to 10 minutes. Stir frequently so it does not burn. Watch for the sauce to turn a deep amber color and coat the back of a spoon.
Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt.Cool completely; the sauce will thicken significantly as it reaches room temperature.
Pour the cooled caramel into a glass jar with a tight-fitting lid.Store it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Reheat gently on the stovetop or in the microwave for a few seconds before using, as the coconut fat solidifies when cold.
